We Are Going In the Wrong Direction
The Rand Paul assault is not dissimilar to the Texas church massacre in that in the immediate aftermath people are busy fighting about issues of secondary importance (the attacker's motive) or using this horrific incident to bash their political adversaries instead of finding some goodness in their heart to show kindness and compassion. I'm sure that the truth about both crimes will come out in due time. I'm also sure that by that point all who were busy arguing about nonsense will have missed an important opportunity to rise above partisan polemics and to do the right thing. I'm just afraid that these two incidents are merely signs of more to come in terms of the way people place politics over humanity.
